Te Mania Homestead offers a romantic and idyllic setting for couples looking to celebrate their love, with a wedding in a large clear marquee surrounded by a breathtaking natural environment.

Matai Peak Lodge is an ideal location for the groomsmen to get ready the morning of the wedding or as a quiet escape for the couple after the festivities. The Lodge accommodates up to 4 guests (a king bed and a double pull out couch). If this is something you’re interested in adding then please ask us about availability. Alternatively, check out the Matai Peak website and you are able to book yourself.
Additionally, we can provide luxury glamping tents which can be set up on the property to cater for extra guests wishing to stay. We have eight 5m bell tents, capable of sleeping an additional 16 guests. We can work with you to have your guests pay us directly for this option or you can cover the additional cost on their behalf.
Due the the vast space of the property, there is plenty of room for guests to park up their caravans and bring a tent.

The coastal tourist town, Kaikoura, is only 35 minutes away and full of accommodation options. We can help you with trusted transport services our couples have previously used who offer hotel pick ups and drop offs at the end of the night.
getting ready
Spread across two stories, the Homestead provides the perfect setting for the bridal party to get ready the morning of your special day. The upstairs suite of rooms and balconies are a great spot for hair and make-up to be done with a brunch spread on the main balcony to graze on.
The downstairs sun room with it’s built in bar and easy access to the gardens provides a great space for the groom and groomsmen. Alternatively, we have had the groom head up to Matai Peak Lodge, for a quick spa, shooting some clay-birds and hitting golf balls. If this is something you’re interested in adding then please ask us about availability.
ceremony
We are fortunate to boast a range of ceremony locations here around the Homesteads grounds, with past guests having had their ceremony on the front lawn with the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop or on the main terrace with the house and its established buxus hedging as the backdrop. The Homesteads eastern garden hosts a beautiful ceremony location, and is easily our favourite. Limestone stairs lead down to a hardwood archway with an 80 year old Pohutukawa tree as your backdrop. There are plenty of well-established trees that provide shade and shelter from wind if needed.

cocktail hour
Now that you’re newlyweds, the celebration can finally begin—and the cocktail hour is usually what kicks things off. It’s a time to catch up with your nearest and dearest or acts as a great buffer between the ceremony and reception if you are wanting to quickly get away for a few photos. The Homesteads surrounding lawns provide the perfect place for guests to converse with each other and enjoy the view before heading in for dinner. Drinks can be served from the bar, while the caterers are able to serve canapés or arrange a platter table for guests to graze on.

Our 24m X 10m clear marquee sits on a polished concrete floor, meaning you get the look of a picturesque garden wedding with the functionality of a solid floor that makes the whole space usable. Our marquee comfortably sits up to 150 people, with room for a bar and dance floor.
With prior arrangement, we can set up the tables and chairs to your specifications to create the perfect blank canvas for you to style and make your own. Alternatively, bring in your own furniture to further tailor your special day to your own unique style.

Te Mania Homestead is a BYO venue and we do not charge you a corkage fee. This means that you have the freedom to tailor your own alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage menu to better reflect yourselves as a couple, whether that be bottles of wine from your favourite winery or serving up a round of espresso martini’s at 10pm. There are two bar units on site available during your celebrations.
All bar service at Te Mania Homestead is to be managed by the Te Mania Homestead team during your wedding. We will provide a variety of services and inventory for your wedding day, including:

2m wide bar in the garden for post-ceremony

We ask that a full beverage list please be provided two months prior to your event and that all beverages be delivered to the venue for bar staff to organise the day prior to your wedding.
You will need a chiller trailer to keep your beverages cold. These are usually provided to you free through your chosen liquor store.

Head up to our lodge on the farm, Matai Peak to get ready, photos, first looks or even as a mini-honeymoon following your wedding celebrations.
Lounge in bed to watch the first rays of sunlight rise out of the Pacific Ocean then, later, sink into our mountainside spa to experience the evening disappear behind the majestic snow-capped mountains. Follow up with a nightcap by the large open fire as the stars come out. We offer you a place to uniquely experience coastal New Zealand.

Are you ready to set a date and want to know more about pricing? We only host a select few weddings a year so please contact us to check if your preferred dates are available within our wedding calendar. We can meet, either in person or virtually. It's best to arrange a site visit so you can meet us and we'll answer your questions as we show you around the property.
We will send you our contract and an invoice for the deposit payment. When the contract is signed and deposit received we will secure your booking at the venue.
